Coach Lovie Smith expects Sims (ankle) to take the field Sunday against the Falcons, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)

With the backing of his coach and GM Jason Licht, Sims' initial NFL action appears imminent. If he achieves active status, as expected, Sims would be handed a minimal role out of the backfield, as Bobby Rainey has put together two serviceable outings in a row (27 carries for 112 yards and seven receptions for 75 yards) and is slated to start at running back. Because Sims' hands were well-noted coming out of college -- he averaged 10.4 yards per catch on 4.2 receptions per game -- he could immediately become a factor in the Buccaneers' passing attack.
Sims (ankle) was limited in Wednesday's practice, the Buccaneers' official site reports.

Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)

Sims' long-awaited NFL debut is inching closer, and his activity level Wednesday backs up GM Jason Licht's comments Monday that the rookie running back is a good bet to "be ready to go this week," according to Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times. If he achieves active status Sunday against the Falcons, Sims could immediately take on a pass-catching role out of the backfield, especially with Doug Martin's (ankle) continued absence from drills. Nevertheless, Sims' initial action would occur as a complementary back to Bobby Rainey, who cobbled together 87 yards on 19 carries this past weekend.
Sims (ankle), who was among the Bucs' inactives Sunday against the Browns, appears poised to join the team's backfield this coming weekend, according to GM Jason Licht, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports. "I have a pretty good feeling he's going to be ready to go this week," Licht noted Monday with regard to Sims' status for Sunday's game against the Falcons.
