The Saints signed Sorensen to their practice squad Wednesday, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The 33-year-old veteran appeared in all 17 games for New Orleans last season, making a pair of starts, so he's familiar with the defensive system. Sorensen is a sensible addition with Marcus Maye suspended and Jordan Howden dealing with a finger injury.

Sorensen signed a contract with the Saints in the offseason after spending his first eight seasons with the Chiefs. The veteran safety finished the 2021 season with 51 tackles, eight pass deflections, two interceptions and one sack. Sorenson figures to play a depth role behind starter Marcus Maye in 2022.
Sorensen doesn't stand out by PFF standards, posting relatively average numbers across the board for a defensive back while struggling as a run defender, but he did manage to rack up 89 tackles (66 solo) and a trio of interceptions. That marks the fifth straight eason he's tallied at least one pick, notching 10 total over that span, and he's also recorded three touchdowns. He should see plenty of action again at the back end of Kansas City's defense.
Sorensen has climbed from the undrafted ranks into a prominent role in the Chiefs' secondary. After totaling just 30 defensive snaps as a rookie, his snaps have progressively increased each year since. It all culminated in a career-high 993 defensive snaps (90 percent) during the 2017 campaign, though that only encompassed 15 games played. The additional playing time allowed Sorensen to rack up a career-high 89 tackles (67 solo) along with 1.5 sacks and an interception -- the fourth of his career. Entering his fifth year, Sorensen is set to play opposite Eric Berry at safety and should be in line for a healthy tackle total once again.
Sorensen played in seven games with the Chiefs in 2014, serving almost exclusively on special teams. He'll likely continue in a similar role in 2015 if he once again secures a roster spot.
