Hamilton was a second-round pick of the Oilers in the 2010 draft, but has been injured during each season since. And it's unlikely you will stay healthy in the NHL if you can't do the same in the minors. The Oilers still hold out hope for him, but he is ticketed to once again play for Oklahoma City of the AHL this year.
Hamilton's first season in the AHL didn't go as planned -- he only scored five goals and six assists in 41 games. He has a big body and fits the mold of a power forward, but lacks high upside. His future role in the NHL is most likely that of a third- or fourth-line player.
Hamilton, the Oilers' second-round pick in the 2010 draft, is fresh off his best season to date with WHL Saskatoon, scoring 26 goals and adding 56 assists in 62 games. Hamilton is someone to keep an eye on as he has the tools to play in the NHL, but he needs some extra seasoning and a roster spot to open up.
The Oilers 2nd round pick in this past June's draft lost seven weeks last season due to a broken collarbone. He did return for the playoffs and scored a couple of goals proving his return to health. His NHL role will be as a power forward, physically he is ready, but is still a season or two away from making his debut.
