RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Brett Bulmer.
Bulmer has impressed in very limited NHL time. He has a solid physical game and the ability to get the puck into the offensive zone. Last season, he worked his way into five games with the Wild, before being sent down and then getting injured. He brings energy to the ice and that's reflected in his hits. But there's not much else there, at least from a fantasy perspective.
Bulmer was a second-round (No. 39 overall) selection by the Wild in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. Between the 2008-11 seasons, the physical winger totaled 89 points (31 G, 58 A) and 206 penalty minutes in just 125 games with his junior club, the Kelowna Rockets, of the WHL. In 2010-11, Bulmer got a taste of the pros and made eight playoff appearances with AHL Houston before signing an entry-level contract with the Wild last April. There is no reason to draft him in fantasy leagues just yet.
The 18-year-old Bulmer has the potential to be a star in the NHL. He played last season with Kelowna of the WHL. He finished the second half of the season strong, and ended the year with 13 G and 40 points. at 6-foot-2, he plays extremely well for his size. Scouts note that his game has been getting better with experience. It's difficult to see him making any appearances this season in Minnesota, but he's one rookie to keep an eye on for the future.
