RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
Cullen signed a one-year deal with the Panters in July of 2010, but he could be lost for the entire season after sustaining an Achilles injury during training camp. This likely will not affect the big-league roster as Cullen had spent most of his carer in the minors anyway.
The journeyman is back with the team that he has had the most NHL time with career highs in games played (29), goals (7), assists (9) and points (16) in 29 games with the Blackhawks in 2005-06. Last season he ranked fifth on the American Hockey League’s Manitoba Moose with 25 assists and sixth with 39 points in 56 regular-season contests.
Cullen has spent the past two seasons refining his skills in the AHL after two brief stints with the Blackhawks and Flyers. He will have trouble making the roster out of training camp, but could see a call up or two during the season.
Cullen actually played well for Chicago last year when given a chance. He had 7 goals and 16 points in 29 games. If he can somehow sneak onto a scoring line this season, Cullen could be a bit of a sleeper.
Cullen was signed as a free agent on August 4, 2005. He stands at 5-feet-11-inches and weighs in at 191 pounds. A native of Moorhead, Minnesota, Cullen played the last three seasons for Houston in the AHL. He had not played in an NHL game coming into the 2005-06 season.
