RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Jonas Johansson.
Johansson, a former first round pick in 2002, flat out stunk in 2005-06, tallying only 10 points in 37 games for AHL Portland before being demoted to the ECHL and putting up eight points in five games there. Johansson will once again struggle for meaningful playing time in the minors this season.
Johansson, once a first round pick and the principal return in the deal that sent Steve Konowalchuk to Colorado in 2003-04, saw his point production dip to 37 in 72 WHL games that season after scoring 35 in 26 games the year before. On top of that, Johansson only put up nine points in limited ice time for AHL Portland last season before being demoted to the ECHL and putting up six points in five games. The Capitals are relatively deep at left wing, so Johansson will have to make an impression early on at Hershey if he hopes to get called up in 2005-06.
