RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Patrick Rissmiller.
After playing 2 full seasons with the San Jose Sharks, Rissmiller spent the majority of the 2009-2010 season playing for the New York Rangers’ AHL affiliate (Hartford Wolfpack). The 31 year old forward was acquired in the off season in a trade that sent Todd White to the Rangers. He will play a depth role on the Thrashers third or fourth lines at best this coming season. He may have a tough time beating out all the young talent on the Thrashers in training camp and will most likely be the type of player who gets called up for a game here or there.
After playing in 79 games for two straight seasons in San Jose, Rissmiller played in just two games in the NHL last year in New York. At 30 years old, we know what we're getting with Rissmiller. And it's nothing to excite fantasy owners.
He had eight goals and nine assists for 17 points, along with 30 penalty minutes, in 77 games with the Sharks last year. He's bottom-line filler; no fantasy value here.
Rissmiller had a career year last season registering 22 points (seven goals and 15 assists) in 79 games played in his first full season. In the 2005-06 season he registered 52 points (15 goals and 37 assists) in 68 games with the Cleveland Barons of the AHL. Expect Rissmiller to be in the mid-20 point range. He is worthy of a late round pick in deeper leagues.
Give it up for The College of the Holy Cross - Rissmiller matriculated there from 1998-2001. He's on the old side for a prospect and he's not going to see time with the top six forwards, so unless you're in a giant pool or a fan of Worcester-based colleges, keep moving along.
Tall, physical winger but he turns 27 in the first month of the year and is probably too old to be taken seriously as a prospect.
