RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Clay Wilson.
Wilson had no points and four penalty minutes in five games with the Flames in 2011-12. Wilson has made the AHL All-Star team the last two seasons, and had a stellar 43 points in 66 games in 2011-12. He has a future in the NHL, but with the glut of defensemen in Calgary, he has decided to play in the KHL in 2012-13.
Wilson, 27, is an older prospect that has not found a meaningful role in the NHL (so far). Since 2007-08, he's only played 16 games combined between the Blue Jackets, Thrashers, and most recently, the Panthers. However, he had his best season in the minors last season with 60 points in 75 games. Most likely, he will stay in the minors for the 2010-11 season.
Wilson has proven to be a good offensive defenseman in the AHL, and that's where he's likely to continue honing his craft for his new organization.
