RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Jonas Junland.
Junland has survived two cuts in training camp and is trying to win one of the final two spots on defense. After being drafted in 2006, Junland matured in Sweden for two seasons before playing for Peoria of the AHL last year. He put up some good offensive numbers in Sweden, but the Blues have been pressing him to play more physically. He's likely to start 2009-10 with the Rivermen, but he'll play some minutes for the Blues.
Junland had on outside chance at making the Blues out of camp but suffered a shoulder injury and is likely to head back to Sweden for another season.
Junland will spend at least one more season in Sweden. The 19-year old has been described as "one of the most talented defenders in the Swedish Elite League". He is one of the Blues' top defensive prospects and should push for a roster spot starting next year.
