RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Jake Dowell.
Dowell signed a one-year deal with Dallas after a few years in Chicago. He wasn't a big producer in his one full year with the Blackhawks (6 G, 15 points in 79 games) and projects as a depth player with grit for Dallas.
Dowell continues to get cups of coffee with the Blackhawks. If he wants to get his shot for the long haul with the club, this is his opportunity with the team trading away several parts of the Stanley Cup winning team.
Dowell has had a cup of coffee with the Hawks in his first two full seasons of pro hockey. He only was up for a game for the big club last season. Dowell accumulated 128 penalty minutes in 75 games last season for Rockford with six goals and 14 assists in 2008-09.
Dowell played in 19 games with Chicago last season, amassing three points on two goals and one assist. His strong two-way will make a strong case for him to see more time with Chicago this season, but he's likely to spend most of the year with Rockford of the AHL.
