RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Max Reinhart.
The 23-year-old center inked a new one-year, two-way contract with the Preds in July, one day after being sent from Calgary to Nashville for a conditional fourth-round draft pick. Reinhart saw limited action with the Flames the past three seasons, scoring just five points in 23 games, but he’s been a steady contributor at the AHL level over that same span, registering a combined 123 points in 202 games. Overall, Reinhart is a solid two-way player who can kill penalties and also chip in on the power play, and while he'll get a chance to compete for a roster spot with the Predators, it's likely he'll start the upcoming season with AHL Milwaukee.
Reinhart was the top scorer in Abbotsford last season, putting up 63 points in 66 games. He also registered two assists in eight NHL games, and will get another look in the fall after being one of the primary injury call-ups over the last couple of years in Calgary.
The Flames liked what they saw from Reinhart last season, as he tallied three points in 11 NHL games. He's part of the youth movement and future of the Flames, and should spend at least some time with Calgary this season. How he plays at camp will dictate that amount of time, as several centers in the Flames' system are hoping to make the big leagues.
Reinhart had two goals in his only game with AHL Abbotsford in 2011-12, so the Heat are expecting big things of him in 2012-13. The former third-rounder (2011) needs more time refining his game before he makes it to Calgary, however.
Signed an entry-level contract with the Flames in July of 2011.
