Alex Friesen

Friesen was selected by the Canucks in the sixth round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. The 21-year old center has averaged over a point-per-game at the OHL level the past three seasons, totaling 197 points (75 G, 122 A) in 182 contests. At 5-9 and 186 pounds, Friesen doesn’t have much size, but he plays bigger than his frame, racking up 106 penalty minutes for Niagara of the OHL in 2011-12. His upside is as a third- or fourth-line energy type, but Friesen will have to prove his worth at the AHL level before evening reaching those heights.
