Karlsson came to Dallas as a part of last summer's Jason Spezza trade, but failed to impress. He played just two AHL games and spent the rest of the season in the ECHL.

2013 Fantasy Outlook
Karlsson signed a two-year deal with the Senators in July and the 6'3" power forward will try to win a roster spot in training camp. He recorded five goals and three assists in 17 games with Northeastern University (HE) last year, which was a significant dip from his 26 points in 32 games the year before. Still the Senators showed confidence in him by giving him a two-year deal. If he makes the team, it's anyone's guess what kind of numbers he'll put up. Considering he'll likely be held in a depth role for the year, his fantasy value isn't very high right now.
