RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Bryan Berard.
Berard has done well to re-establish himself as an NHL defenseman after his gruesome eye injury many years ago, but a back injury last season resulted in surgery and just 44 games played. Assuming he’s 100% he should man the point on the Blue Jackets’ top power play unit, but both he and the Columbus offense have a lot to prove. 45-50 points would seem to be about his ceiling, and there’s no guarantee he’ll play enough games to reach it.
Berard's amazing comeback from a serious eye injury continued in 2003-04, as he scored 13 goals and 34 assists for the Blackhawks. Now manning the point for the Blue Jackets, he'll be a key member of their power play and should get lots of helpers off Rick Nash tallies -- he could hit for 50 points this year.
