RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Luke Richardson.
Richardson will likely start the season with the AHL's Binghamton Senators and serve as a mentor to many of the young defensemen on Ottawa's farm team. If any injuries occur to Ottawa's defense corps, the Ottawa native will be one of the first to be called up.
He has shaken an early-career rap as a dirty player to become one of the league's most impressive open-ice hitters. But, like any fine machine, the rust is starting to show and the odometer is about to turn over. His fitness level may be the best it has ever been but this guy is a crease clearer and not a fantasy dude.
Rock solid stay-at-home defenseman is now 36, and isn't likely to produce even the triple digit penalty minutes he was good for a few seasons ago.
