RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Jung, who was recently forced out of his UFC 214 bout against Ricardo Lamas, revealed that he has suffered a torn ACL and MCL, Damon Martin of FOX Sports reports.

Following Jung's withdrawal, it was disclosed that he had suffered a knee injury, but the severity was not yet known at that point. A post from his personal Instagram later revealed what appears to be a worst-case scenario. These injuries typically require at least a 12-month recovery timetable, so it looks like "The Korean Zombie" won't be ready for a return until the summer of 2018. It's an incredibly tough break for the 30-year-old, who recently returned from a three-year military service hiatus with an impressive KO victory over Dennis Bermudez in February.

Jung is suffering from a knee injury and is set to undergo surgery with an aim to return within six months, Dave Doyle of MMAFighting.com reports.

Fantasy Analysis

The hindrance forced Jung to withdraw from his scheduled fight against Ricardo Lamas, which had been scheduled for July 29 at UFC 214, and now will lead to a long-term recovery period. The Korean Zombie will look to recover as soon as possible after going under the knife, while Lamas continues to search for a potential replacement.
Jung is withdrawing from his fight against Ricardo Lamas at UFC 214 due to an undisclosed injury, FOX Sports reports.

Fantasy Analysis

It's a disappointing development for Jung, as he will miss out on his first opportunity to string together multiple wins since returning from his hiatus in February. It's unclear at this point how severe the 30-year-old's ailment is or even how he sustained it, so hopefully we'll get some clarity over the next few days or weeks. Lamas is still expected to fight on July 29 in Anaheim, though no replacement has been selected yet.
Jung will take on Ricardo Lamas at UFC 214 on July 29 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, MMAFighting.com reports.

Fantasy Analysis

Jung stormed back on to the scene after a two-year layoff to knock out Dennis Bermudez in the first round, and will look to continue building momentum against an equally formidable fighter in Lamas. Both Jung and Lamas share a common loss to current champion Jose Aldo, but what true featherweight hasn't lost to Aldo during his streak of dominance from 2006 to 2014? Jung is five years younger than Lamas, and will carry a slight reach advantage into the Octagon, per Fightmetric. Lamas has been an active fighter against the division's top talent, though -- a metric that is difficult to account for in this fight.
Jung defeated Dennis Bermudez via KO (punches) at 2:49 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Houston.

Fantasy Analysis

Zombie! Zombie! It's been so long since Jung had fought (August 3, 2013 to be precise), that this was the first blurb about him since RotoWire started covering MMA. It's safe to say that there will be many more to come. Fresh off mandatory military service for his native South Korea, Jung announced his return to the UFC's featherweight division in a major way. After the two combatants exchanged shots over the course of the first few minutes of the fight, Jung unloaded with an uppercut and a brief follow up shot that finished Bermudez off. Despite all the time away, Jung's takedown defense was exceptional and he showed the power he posses, even if we haven't seen it on a regular basis. The return of The Korean Zombie opens up a ton of possibilities for the UFC featherweight division.
