Filling in for the resting Alberto Moreno, Flanagan was exceptional on the defensive side of the ball versus a dangerous City attack. He is unlikely to stick in the lineup, however, and Moreno will likely return to the lineup Sunday versus Crystal Palace.

The plan for the youngster was to play for 30 minutes and he got through this challenge without any upsets. The 22-year-old has not featured for the Reds since the final game of 2013-14 but he's progressing well and getting closer and closer to his so awaited return.
