Defoe netted the only goal in the 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Monday.

Defoe scored the match-winning goal in the 80th minute with a left-footed shot from the center of the box. This goal took his total up to three goals in 10 Premier League appearances this season.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Defoe got off five shots and scored a goal in a 6-2 loss to Everton on Sunday.

Defoe appeared to be done with the Premier League a year ago at this time, but he's made quite the resurgence with Sunderland. That is now his third goal in nine games this season and it's easy to see why Sunderland still had faith in the 33-year-old last season. He has failed to record an assist this season and that's something they'll need out of him, as he and Darren Fletcher have seven goals with no assists this season.

Defoe (hamstring) is available off the bench Saturday against West Ham.

Defoe has missed a few games due to the ailment, and Fabio Borini will get one more start before Defoe likely regains full fitness over the international break.

Defoe (hamstring) is available off the bench Saturday against Manchester United.

Defore injury isn't considered overly serious, but he'll continue to sit, with Fabio Borini getting the start up front.

Defoe "has some problems with his hamstring but I think he will be available" in Saturday's trip to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United, according to manager Dick Advocaat.

The 32-year-old English striker is having a renaissance year for Sunderland. After returning to form in the last campaign with Toronto FC in the MLS, Defoe has five goals in seven matches across all competitions, aided by a hat trick in the Capital One Cup against Exeter City. If Defoe can't go, Fabio Borini would retain his spot in the starting XI from the Black Cats' midweek cup tie against Manchester City.

Defoe grabbed the equaliser in Saturday's 1-1 draw against Swansea City.

Defoe latched on to Jeremain Lens' 62nd minute pass to slam the ball past Lukasz Fabianski. Defoe is playing in an unfamiliar wide role, however, regularly cuts in and should be good for as many as 10 goals this season.

Defoe scored his first goal of the season on three shots (two on target) in Saturday's 4-2 defeat to Leicester City.

After coming over from Toronto FC in the MLS in January last season, Defoe scored four times in 17 Premier League starts for Sunderland. This season, staring down a 3-0 deficit heading into halftime, Defoe broke duck for Sunderland with a 60th minute strike from just off the penalty spot. Sunderland will look to bounce back next weekend against newly-promoted Norwich City.

Defoe got off six shots, with four on goal in a 3-1 loss to Chelsea on Sunday.

Defoe was picked up in the January transfer window to get some goals for Sunderland and he did just that as he helped keep them out of the relegation zone. In his 17 games played, he scored four goals and may force Sunderland to re-new his contract as they desperately need offense going forward.
