Defoe had one goal on three shots in Saturday s 3-2 victory over Chelsea.

Defoe scored the winning goal Saturday to help his squad earn three points in a crucial race to avoid relegation. Defoe has now scored in two straight matches and three out of the last four, as he now has 15 league goals. Defoe may have a hard time making it three straight matches with a goal as Sunderland faces an Everton squad that has only allowed 22 away goals, tied for fifth best.

Manchester City need just a point to solidify their Champions League spot for next season, which keeps Kevin De Bruyne near the top of the midfielder rankings for the final week of the season.

Defoe scored from the spot and took three shots on goal in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Stoke.

The penalty came in the final seconds to rescue a point for Sunderland. Should the Black Cats survive relegation, it will go down as one of the critical moments of their season. All season long, Defoe has carried Sunderland's attack on his 33-year-old shoulders, so it was no surprise to see him get off eight total shots on Saturday. As a player who's been in his share of big games in the EPL, it might be worth rolling the dice on Defoe in these final weeks to see if he can lead Sunderland to safety.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Defoe scored the second goal in Sunderland's 3-0 away win against Norwich City on Saturday.

At 33, Defoe is clearly not the player he was prior to moving to Toronto in 2014 but there are not many poachers better than the former Tottenham man and this was in evidence as he latched on to Borini's vicious ball to score Sunderland's second of the afternoon. He might not play every game between now and the end of the season, but, when he does play, he is always worth fantasy consideration.

Defoe took three shots off target in Sunday's 2-0 loss versus Leicester City.

Defoe was unable to place any shot on target as Leicester's back line continues to suffocate opposing strikers. Defoe's next match is Saturday versus Norwich City, a squad that has allowed 24 home goals, tied for fourth worst in league play.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Defoe buried a goal on four shots in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Newcastle.

The veteran poacher was at it again Sunday, securing his 15th goal in all competitions while earning his team a vital point. Defoe is having another strong season despite Sunderland's position near the foot of the table, and the Black Cats will have him to thank if they are able to avoid relegation.

Defoe (calf) is starting Sunday against Newcastle.

Defoe will start up front with Fabio Borini in Sunday's huge derby, which has extra importance given the teams' relegation battles.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Defoe brought home the opener on two shots (one on target) in 32 minutes off the bench in Saturday's 1-1 draw to Southampton.

While Defoe continues his scoring march, with 11 goals on the season, other than the goals he's been awfully quiet of late. In 32 minutes he only made four touches with the ball and that was probably one of the main reasons he was left on the bench in first place. The Black Cats' next game doesn't come until Mar 20 but the team needs his goals and if he starts he may have a decent fantasy upside at home against the inconsistent Baggies.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Defoe is available off the bench Saturday against Southampton.

It's a surprising move to see the best fantasy producer of the Black Cats on the bench but with him unable to score recently and Fabio Borini scoring midweek against Crystal Palace, the latter gets another chance to shine against the Saints. Defoe's fantasy upside off the bench is limited.
