Defoe grabbed the equaliser in Saturday's 1-1 draw against Swansea City.

Defoe latched on to Jeremain Lens' 62nd minute pass to slam the ball past Lukasz Fabianski. Defoe is playing in an unfamiliar wide role, however, regularly cuts in and should be good for as many as 10 goals this season.

Defoe scored his first goal of the season on three shots (two on target) in Saturday's 4-2 defeat to Leicester City.

After coming over from Toronto FC in the MLS in January last season, Defoe scored four times in 17 Premier League starts for Sunderland. This season, staring down a 3-0 deficit heading into halftime, Defoe broke duck for Sunderland with a 60th minute strike from just off the penalty spot. Sunderland will look to bounce back next weekend against newly-promoted Norwich City.

Defoe got off six shots, with four on goal in a 3-1 loss to Chelsea on Sunday.

Defoe was picked up in the January transfer window to get some goals for Sunderland and he did just that as he helped keep them out of the relegation zone. In his 17 games played, he scored four goals and may force Sunderland to re-new his contract as they desperately need offense going forward.

Defoe snatched a goal on two shots in the 2-0 win over Everton Saturday.

Defoe has grabbed four goals since coming to Sunderland in the last transfer window and he's given the Black Cats exactly what they have asked for. Defoe has another good matchup in their next match when they host Leicester a week from today.

Defoe grabbed the winning goal in the 1-0 win over Newcastle Sunday.

This goal was as big as any this season as it not only grabbed a win against Sunderland's biggest rivals, but furthered the distance from the drop zone. It was Defoe's only shot in the match, but he made it count grabbing his third goal for the Black Cats. Defoe has a good matchup next Saturday when Sunderland host Crystal Palace.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Defoe was scoreless yet again Saturday in the 1-0 loss to West Ham.

Defoe got off to a hot start scoring in two of his first three matches, but has cooled off since going scoreless in his last six starts. It's hard to score when your team has only one goal in that six game span, but it just shows the lack of offense that Sunderland has. He has only maxed out at three shots in his time at Sunderland, so it remains to be seen if he can be a consistent scorer at this point in his career. Sunderland have their Tyne-Wear rivalry match in their next game when they host Newcastle in two weeks time.

Defoe had three shots in the 0-0 draw to West Brom Saturday.

After being questionable to play, Defoe was able to take the field in the scoreless draw to West Brom. After scoring in his first two matches he hasnt been able to find the back of the net in the past two, but it's just a matter of time as Defoe seemingly walks into goals when he's starting. Look for him to start again next Saturday when Sunderland travel to take on Manchester United.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Defoe is in the starting XI for Saturday's match against West Brom.

Defoe was held out of last weekend’s FA Cup match against Bradford, but the injury was never considered serious, so he’ll lead the line against a suddenly strong West Brom defense.
