Taylor will need to have surgery on a nagging Achilles' tendon injury and he is expected to miss a number of weeks, manager Sean Dyche said Thursday. "Matty is unfortunately going to have a minor operation (on Monday)," Dyche said. "He's got a niggling Achilles and it hasn't settled down. It's nothing too serious in the grand scheme of things, but it's still something that is niggling - a bit of a small bony area at the back of his Achilles which is irritating it."

Dyche refused to give a timetable for Taylor's return, though it's unlikely he's brought back before he is fully fit, which is expected to take at least a few weeks, if not more.

Taylor was able to grab an assist in the tough 3-1 loss to Chelsea on Monday.

Taylor and Burnley had a tough time of it, only holding the ball for 30 percent of the game, though he did have a nice pass that was finished off by Scott Arfield early in the first half. Taylor is sure to continue to be part of the starting XI, as he was one of their biggest signings this summer.

Taylor collected a poor clearance from Fulham and finished clinically, scoring the Hammers' third before halftime.

Today was an explosion of points for Taylor, earning points for the shutout, 90 minutes played, an assist and a goal. He won't do that every week of course, but he's about as cheap as they come with a tag of under five million pounds. If West Ham is playing a comparable team, he'd be a great one or two week pickup that will almost certainly save you a couple million pounds over whoever else you have in the midfield.

Taylor scored in Saturday's 4-3 loss to Blackpool.

Taylor has only two goals on the year for Bolton, but that's not his game. He's a terrific tackler, and a big reason for another successful year at Bolton.
