Yoshida scored the final goal in Southampton's 3-0 win over Everton on Saturday.

The Japanese defender scored only his second goal for Southampton on his fifth start of the season. Yoshida played in a back three alongside regular starters Toby Alderweireld and Jose Fonte. The success of this formation and his goal may mean that the Saints' continue with it, meaning Yoshida may be due more Premier League minutes in coming games.

Yoshida played the entirety of Southampton's season opening loss at Liverpool on Sunday.

Yoshida slotted next to Jose Fonte in central defense, filling the void created after Southampton sold Dejan Lovren to Liverpool this summer. The Japanese international's promotion to the starting XI is hardly surprising, as he managed 31 starts in 2012-2013, before Lovren's arrival last summer limited him to just seven starts last term. With a more consistent role this season, Yoshida's fantasy stock is on the rise, but will largely hinge on how Southampton's defense holds up amid numerous departures in the transfer window.

Yoshida's role with Southampton will be in question heading into next season, although with Luke Shaw expected to leave for a bigger club, as well as interest in Dejean Lovren and Jose Fonte, he could re-find his role.
