Saborio scored a goal, and earned an assist in Saturday’s 3-0 win over New England.

Saborio was a factor in both late goals to guarantee the win for D.C., after coming off the bench in the 44th minute. Saborio assisted on the second goal for D.C. and scored the final goal to put the game out of reach. Even with three goals on the season Saborio’s fantasy value is limited with him coming of the bench.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Saborio scored two late goals in the 4-0 victory over Vancouver on Saturday.

Saborio subbed off Fabian Espindola, who also scored two goals in the match, in the 79th minute. He netted his two goals on three shots, scoring late in the 88th and 90th minutes. He's been used as a substitute in three matches this season and these were his first goals of the season.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Saborio will not play Saturday against FC Dallas, as he will be away on international duty with Costa Rica.

Saborio has found playing time a bit hard to come by early this season, so his absence isn't likely to make a significant dent in D.C.'s plans. That being said, he's expected to return for their April 2 match against San Jose.

Saborio signed a contract extension on Tuesday to remain in D.C., with the details of the contract being undisclosed.

Saborio, who is 33, scored four goals in 15 appearances after arriving at the club, which gave him 27 total regular season appearances for both United and Real Salt Lake last year. He's eighth all time in scoring among active MLS players, with 67 goals and 13 assists in 139 appearances over his six seasons.

Saborio scored United's lone goal Thursday against NYC FC after taking three shots on goal.

Saborio has fared well since joining D.C. as he now has taken eight shots on goal in the past four games, resulting in two goals. Additionally, the current absence of Fabian Espindola (knee) hasn't really affected Saborio's production, and the impending return of Espindola won't likely change much either which allows for Saborio to be used across all formats rather routinely.

Saborio is in the starting XI for Sunday's game against Philadelphia.

Saborio will be making his D.C. United debut Sunday after being dealt from Real Salt Lake over a week ago in exchange for Luis Silva. The veteran is likely on tap to start every week moving forward, as head coach Ben Olsen looks to utilize Saborio, Chris Rolfe, and Fabian Espindola in the same formation.

D.C. United head coach Ben Olsen said Saborio is "in the mix" to play Sunday against Philadelphia, reports.

Saborio had been away with Costa Rica for the Gold Cup, but trained with D.C. United on Tuesday for his first action with the club since being traded from Real Salt Lake. Saborio is RSL's all-time leading goal scorer and is expected to be the prototypical No. 9 for United.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Saborio was traded to D.C. United on Thursday in exchange for Luis Silva, the Salt Lake Tribune reports.

Saborio is RSL's all-time leading scorer, bagging double-digit goals in four consecutive seasons between 2010 and 2013. He has three goals this season but was recently suspended after failing to return on time after personal leave. He is currently with Costa Rica for the Gold Cup, and may need to wait until August to make his D.C. United debut.
