Williamson denied that he tried to get sent off on purpose against Leicester City saying there was no intent on his part, reports the Daily Mail.

Coach John Carver suggested the defender took the 'easy way out' by earning the suspension during the team's relegation battle. Williamson said there was absolutely no intent on his part, and would never do anything to hurt the club or its supporters.

Williamson scored his first career goal in the 88th minute of Newcastle's 3-3 draw with Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Williamson seemed to secure the win for Newcastle before Wilfried Zaha silenced St. James' Park. Fantasy owners shouldn't start to expect offensive production from Williamson, as he just happened to be in the right place at the right time to punch in a Rolando Aarons shot that hit the woodwork. As far as defensive value goes, Newcastle has a slate of good matchups over the next five gameweeks so Williamson could be considered as a decent bench defender.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Williamson got the start and played the full 90 minutes in Newcastle's 0-2 loss to Manchester City on Sunday.

Williamson got the opening day nod over fellow center-back Steven Taylor and looks to be manager Alan Pardew's first choice to play along side captain Fabricio Coloccini. Williamson doesn't get involved on the attack, so nearly all of his value comes from clean sheets, which he has a decent chance at in the near future, with upcoming matches against Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, Southampton, Hull City, and Stoke.
