Mackie signed a two-year deal with QPR on Tuesday.

Mackie previously played at Loftus Road from 2010-13 but spent the last two years with Nottingham Forest, the latter year on loan with Reading. The striker scored five times over 32 appearances for Reading and should be able to find his way into QPR's lineup next season as well.

Cardiff has begun their shopping to prepare for their return to the Premier League, and are looking at putting a deal together for Mackie, reports the Daily Mail.

Mackie is one of a few names Cardiff may be interested in. Queens Park Rangers is likely to be raided by Premier League teams as they drop to the Championship.

Mackie scored the first and only goal for Queens Park Rangers in their 3-1 defeat against Manchester United on Saturday.

Mackie has only started five times for QPR this season, but this goal be the start of a good argument for more playing time for the Scot under new manager Harry Redknapp.

With Queens Park Rangers down a man against Manchester City, Mackie scored on the counterattack to give his team a 2-1 lead that they were not able to hold onto in a 3-2 road loss.

The only thing more surprising than Mackie's goal was the fact that QPR gave up two goals in stoppage time to lose the game.

After a couple close efforts on goal not going in, Mackie found his luck when a shot deflected off Swansea's Angel Rangel and ended up as the second goal in Wednesday's 3-0 win for Queens Park Rangers.

It should be made as future reference that this is the third game in a row that Mackie has scored against Swansea dating back to 2010 when both teams were in the Championship.

With the game tied at two in injury time, Mackie found the back of the Liverpool net to give Queens Park Rangers a win Wednesday.

Mackie has not been a regular in manager Mark Hughes' starting lineup, but surely has been a spark from the bench having scoring three times in his last four times being subbed on.

Mackie bagged a brace for QPR in Saturday's 3-2 loss to Blackburn.

Out of all the money Rangers splashed around in January, it's the scrappy Mackie, who has been around all year, who grabbed both goals for the Premier League newboys.
