Herd injured his knee during Australia's friendly against Belgium on Friday, the Birmingham Mail reports.

It was Herd's international debut for Australia but he didn't even make it through the first half before he left the pitch with a knee injury. Regarding his status with Aston Villa, he'll have some time to recover before their next match against Liverpool on Sept. 13, but he has yet to make an EPL appearance this season anyways.

Manager Paul Lambert said that Herd "was playing and then got hurt in training. He was ruled out on the morning of the game. We had to change everything. He got a facial knock and it was too risky to play him."

Herd doesn't have a specific timetable for return, although he appears quite doubtful for Saturday's Premier League match against Stoke City.
