McCarthy made seven saves in Saturday's 2-1 win against Chelsea.

McCarthy is still yet to keep a clean sheet in his new colours, however, he did prevent Chelsea levelling the game up by making a string of impressive saves. It remains to be seen whether manager Alan Pardew reinstalls long-time number one Julian Speroni (finger) to the starting XI following the international break.

McCarthy made two saves in Saturday's 2-1 win against Aston Villa.

McCarthy was unlucky to be beaten at his near post after Adama Traoré's cross was deflected in by Palace left back Pape Souare. The English stopper could return to the bench next weekend when Julian Speroni (finger) is expected to return to the side.

McCarthy is expected to start again Saturday against Aston Villa, with Julian Speroni still out with a finger injury.

McCarthy has made nine saves in his two starts for Speroni, though he's allowed three goals and hasn't won yet. Villa have scored just once in their two matches this season, so there's certainly some clean-sheet optimism for McCarhty, who will lose the starting job when Speroni returns to full fitness.

McCarthy registered five saves as Crystal Palace fell 2-1 to Arsenal on Sunday.

McCarthy performed quite well Sunday, making a handful of saves against an active Arsenal attack. Although he conceded a pair of goals, the Englishman can't be faulted for either, particularly Palace's second half own-goal. Through two starts in place of injured teammate Julian Speroni (finger), McCarthy has totaled nine saves, which, depending on Speroni's status, could allow him to remain in goal next weekend against Aston Villa.

McCarthy is starting Sunday against Arsenal in place of the injured Julian Speroni (finger).

McCarthy started last week against of Wayne Hennessey, but manager Alan Pardew said earlier this week that he would give no assurances that the former would keep the job while Speroni is sidelined. It's a tough matchup against Arsenal, though the Gunners were shut out at home last weekend by West Ham.

Despite helping Crystal Palace to an opening weekend 3-1 victory over Norwich City, manager Alan Pardew said he could not give any assurances that McCarthy would keep the starting job while Julian Speroni (finger) is sidelined.

McCarthy made four saves in the opener after surprisingly getting the start ahead of Wayne Hennessey, who was widely believed to be the No. 2 behind Speroni. Either way, it's a tough matchup this weekend against Arsenal, who are looking to bounce back after getting shut out by West Ham last weekend.

McCarthy is starting Saturday against Norwich City.

No. 1 keeper Julian Speroni is out with a finger injury, and it was believed that Wayne Hennessey would get the start Saturday. However, manager Alan Pardew is going with McCarthy, who spent last season as a backup at QPR.

McCarthy made his first Premier League start of the season in a 3-2 loss to the Reds on Sunday.

With Robert Green (illness) sidelined, McCarthy was called upon to man the goal. He was the victim of some shoddy defending and poor bounces, as two of Liverpool's goals were own goals.
