RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

De Sciglio didn't make the 22-man squad for the trip to Sampdoria on Friday due to a muscle problem.

De Sciglio has been on a special training regime but his injury is serious enough to sideline him for that game. He should be a better bet to return next week. Davide Calabria is the favorite to take his spot at left back in a tricky match up.

De Sciglio made four appearances (three starts) for Italy during Euro 2016, tallying two shots off target, two clean sheets, six crosses, six tackles and two yellow cards on four fouls. He takes his international record to 26 caps with no goals. Italy were eliminated dramatically after a quarterfinals penalty shoot-out loss to Germany.

De Sciglio had some great performances with AC Milan last season, though, he was utterly inconsistent. The 23-year-old versatile half back, though, didn't hold much fantasy upside as he was unproductive and wasn't a regular starter. The young prospect finished the season with one assist and four clean sheets and 39 tackles in 22 Serie A appearances (21 starts).

De Sciglio took one shot, made three tackles, and had one yellow card in 90 minutes of work during Monday’s 2-0 win over Spain.

De Sciglio played a whole match at Euro 2016 for the first time, which could bode well for his chance to make the starting XI in Saturday’s colossal matchup with Germany. He made the starting XI in place of Matteo Darmian, who has come on as a sub the past two matches, and Antonio Candreva, who has not played the last two matches.

De Sciglio, who did not play in Italy's World Cup opener Saturday due to a thigh injury, is still not training, leaving him as a serious doubt to play Friday against Costa Rica, the Daily Mail reports.

Giorgio Chiellini started in place of De Sciglio against England and he will likely do so again if he can't face the Ticos.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

De Sciglio has been ruled out of Italy's Group D opener against England on Saturday due to a thigh injury, the Daily Mail reports.

Italy are able to make an injury replacement because it's still a full day before their opener, but it sounds like they are likely to stay with De Sciglio, who could be ready to play for their second game, which comes Friday against Costa Rica.
