Gayle will play some part in Saturday's game against West Bromwich Albion, according to manager Alan Pardew.

Gayle enjoyed his first start of the season in Sunday's 1-0 win at Watford and is in manager Alan Pardew's good books as a result. "I was very impressed. If he'd scored those two goals he'd have been man of the match," Pardew said of Gayle's performance. The striker has been given a chance in the side after notching a hat trick in last week's 4-1 Capital One Cup win over Charlton Athletic. With Wickham and Chamakh injured, Gayle has a real chance to stake a claim for the top spot as Palace's lone striker and a good performance on Saturday would do him no harm.

Gayle is in the starting XI for Tuesday's match against Southampton.

Gayle was replaced by Glenn Murray last weekend, the latter of which bagged a brace, but he also picked up a red card, and with a number of other injuries up front, Gayle will slot back into the starting XI. Unfortunately, it comes against a Southampton side that has been one of the best defensively at home this season.

Gayle scored twice and got an assist in Saturday's 3-2 win at Burnley.

Gayle smashed the ball home in the 28th minute from close range following Wilfried Zaha's deflected cross to get Palace back into the game at 1-2. He passed the ball to Jason Puncheon in the 48th minute before the winger placed it into the bottom corner from 25 yards. The striker finished the comeback by firing home from a tight angle in the 87th minute from Puncheon's cross. Gayle now has five goals this season and looks a good bet to build on that tally against Everton next time out.

Gayle converted from 12 yards in the 69th minute after Joe Ledley was fouled by Benjamin Stambouli. Gayle, who was starting his first league game this year, has three goals and one assist so far this season and has a chance to prove himself under new boss Alan Pardew whilst Yannick Bolasie is on international duty.

Gayle scored in the 17th minute of Sunday's 3-1 win against Liverpool.

Gayle showed his predatory instinct by slamming the ball home after Yannick Bolasie's shot came back off the post. Gayle was then fouled by Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel, captain Mile Jedinak making it 3-1 from the resulting free kick. The striker was a surprise starter in place of Fraizer Campbell, and now has two goals and an assist. All of those contributions have come in the three games that he has started.

Gayle didn't make the starting XI for Sunday's 3-2 win at Everton.

The striker was left on the bench by manager Neil Warnock and didn't manage to enter the fray as the team won 3-2. Gayle started the previous two games and scored against Newcastle United but was replaced by the returning Joe Ledley in Sunday's starting XI. The striker will be rotated by manager Neil Warnock depending on the game and tends to score when picked, which should mean at least six to seven goals this season.
