Petersen has been ruled out for the next six weeks after partially tearing ligaments in his left knee during last Saturday's Bundesliga match against SC Freiburg, the Associated Press reports.

Petersen, who signed from Bayern Munich last summer, had scored three times in eight Bundesliga matches this season. After a slow start, Petersen had picked it up as of late, scoring his three goals in his last four matches. He'll now be out until at least early December.

Petersen scored in the 37th minute of Saturday's 1-1 draw with VfB Stuttgart.

Petersen has now found the back of the net thrice in the last three games, taking 10 shots over that span, with six landing on-goal. He'll look to keep it going against SC Freiburg on October 19 after the international break.

Petersen scored in the 32nd minute and then again deep in extra time in the second half of Saturday's 2-0 win over Hamburger SV.

Petersen's goals were his first two of the Bundesliga season after he slotted 11 home last year in 30 appearances. He'll look to keep it going Sunday against Nurnberg.
