Franjic has been ruled out for the duration of the World Cup after injuring his hamstring in Australia's match against Chile on Friday, reports the Associated Press.

Losing Franjic will hurt Australia's chances of advancing out of the group stage. He is key on defense but also helps on the attack, proven by his assist on Australia's only goal against Chile.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Franjic suffered a hamstring injury during Friday's 3-1 loss to Chile in their World Cup opener and he could miss the rest of the tournament, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

Franjic was removed from the match after suffering the injury and while there has been no decision yet on how long he will miss, Australia play again Wednesday against Netherlands.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Franjic assisted on Tim Cahill's 35th minute goal during Australia's 1-3 loss to Australia in their World Cup opener on Friday.

Franjic flipped a nice ball into the box that Cahill headed home, but it wasn't enough to get the Aussies back in the game. It likely won't get much easier, with matches against Spain and Netherlands upcoming.
