Aguero took four shots (none on target) and assisted on Edin Dzeko's goal during Manchester City's 2-1 loss to Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

Despite none of his shots landing on goal, Aguero came dangerously close to score numerous times. He now has at least a goal or an assist in three straight matches, and four of his last five, while his 17 league goals remain tied for the top with Chelsea's Diego Costa. He'll look to keep his streak going Wednesday against Leicester City at the Etihad.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini did not include Aguero (back) among his injured players heading into Saturday's match against Newcastle, implying that the striker is fit to play.

Aguero has been battling some back soreness recently, and while he hasn't been ruled out, there's certainly a possibility that Pellegrini could sit him for Saturday's match now that Wilfried Bony is available, particularly in preparation for Tuesday's Champions League match against Barcelona.

Aguero scored two goals during Wednesday's match against Stoke City, but he was taken off in the second half with a back issue, manager Manuel Pellegrini said. "He felt a problem with his back towards the end but I don't think it is serious," Pellegrini said. "We will know more tomorrow."

Aguero's brace moved him to within one goal of Diego Costa for the Premier League lead after going scoreless since returning from his knee injury. If the back issue turns out not to be serious, he should be fine to face Newcastle on Feb. 21.

Aguero had three shots (one on target) and picked up an assist on David Silva's goal during Manchester City's 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Saturday.

Aguero looked like he had a shot heading to the back of the net, but Silva ever-so-slightly adjusted the direction to make sure it went beyond the goal line to seal an important point for the Citizens. The assist was Aguero's fourth this season, and first since he had a brace and an assist against Sunderland back on Dec. 3. Up next is a very promising home game against Hull City next Saturday.
