Aguero will miss the beginning of the Premier League season because of his time with Argentina during the Copa America, Stu Brennan of the Manchester Evening News reports.

Man City opens their season Aug. 10 against West Brom, and with Aguero likely to join up with the club in the first week of August, he won't have nearly enough time to get fit for that game. If it's just the single absence, he could make his season debut Aug. 16 against Chelsea. Wilfried Bony could get the start in the opener, though he is dealing with an illness that has kept him from playing with the squad in the preseason.

Aguero will have scans on his shoulder after injuring it during Tuesday's Copa America match against Uruguay, ESPN FC reports.

Aguero scored the only goal of the match early in the second half but had to come off late due to the ailment. Carlos Tevez replaced him Tuesday and could take his spot in the starting lineup Saturday against Jamaica if he's unable to play.

Aguero earned the first Golden Boot award of his career as he scored 26 league goals for Manchester City, finishing with 32 goals and nine assists overall.

The Argentine scored in bunches all season and finished the season with nine goals and two assists in his final seven matches en route to a new career-high. Manchester City are unwilling to listen to any offers for Aguero despite significant interest, and are currently looking to extend his contract, which already runs through 2019.

Aguero scored his 26th goal of the Premier League season Sunday against Southampton, earning him this year's Golden Boot Award.

There was little doubt that Aguero would take home the award, as he entered Sunday's game five ahead of Spurs' Harry Kane and six ahead Chelsea's Diego Costa, both of whom also scored Sunday. It was a magical season for Aguero, who was inexplicably left off the PFA Team of the Year, and he set a new career-high with his 26 goals, with his previous high coming in his first season with Man City when he bagged 23 during the 2011/12 season. He is a cornerstone of the club now and will certainly be back next season to try and help get Man City back on top.

Aguero scored three times, including once from the penalty spot, during Manchester City's 6-0 domination of QPR on Sunday.

Aguero now has a league-leading 25 goals on the season, putting him five goals ahead of Tottenham's Harry Kane with two to play. It's been an incredible year for Aguero, who was somehow left off the PFA Team of the Year yet again.

Aguero scored his 21st Premier League goal of the season in the third minute of Manchester City's 3-2 win over Aston Villa on Saturday.

Aguero was gifted a goal thanks to a horrible error by Villa goalkeeper Brad Guzan, who tried to pass the ball across the field and simply fluffed it. Aguero now leads the league in goals, with Tottenham's Harry Kane just one back and Chelsea's Diego Costa two behind.

Aguero scored in the 36th minute of Manchester City's 2-0 win over West Ham on Saturday, his 20th goal in league play this season.

Aguero briefly took the league lead before Tottenham's Harry Kane matched him just hours later. After a decent goal drought -- by his standards -- Aguero has now netted three times in the last two games, and he'll have a great opportunity to extend it next Saturday against Aston Villa at the Etihad.

Aguero had two goals on five shots during Manchester City's 4-2 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Aguero opened the scoring in the eighth minute in what appeared to be an opportunity for City to run away with the match, but United responded with four straight goals before Aguero netted a late consolation in the 89th minute. He now boasts 19 goals in Premier League play this season, tying him for the league lead with Chelsea's Diego Costa, who is out with a hamstring injury, and Tottenham's Harry Kane.
