Martinez signed with Guangzhou Evergrande on Wednesday after transferring from Atletico Madrid for 31 million, the BBC reports.

Martinez signed a four-year contract with Aletico Madrid on Wednesday after transferring from FC Porto.

Martinez had been linked with a number of clubs this season, including AC Milan and Arsenal, but Atletico won out on the Columbian striker, who had 92 goals in 133 appearances for FC Porto. He will help fill the void left by Mario Mandzukic, who left for Juventus, and he could be a prolific goal scorer in La Liga.

Martinez was heavily linked with AC Milan last month, while Arsenal were also potential landing spots, but Atletico were the only club to pony up the sizable release clause. He has a big opportunity to start right away after Mario Mandzukic left to join Juventus. Martinez had 21 league goals in 30 appearances last season, while also netting seven times in eight Champions League matches.
