White was brought in as a non-roster training camp invitee and will attempt to earn a spot with the team. Should he make the roster, he likely won't be much of a contributor given coach Tom Thibodeau's notoriously tight rotation.
White is going into his third season, but has only played in 19 career games. With the number of frontcourt players that the Bobcats have, White could more than tripe his number of career games played in one shortened season. He should see minutes at the power forward position, but we don’t expect him to hold much fantasy relevancy.
After missing most of his rookie season with a jaw injury, White missed nearly two months last season with a thumb injury. He spent time in the D-League and saw limited action with Oklahoma City. White remains a good prospect with his seven-foot wingspan, good mid-range jumper and solid defensive play. At the moment, though, he's a victim of a clogged frontcourt.
White was sidelined most of his rookie season after undergoing jaw surgery. He played in seven games near season's end, averaging 8.9 points and 4.6 rebounds and shooting 52 percent in 18.6 minutes per game, making him an intriguing option entering 2009-10. He doesn't have the size to play with his back to the basket in the NBA, but he'll rotate in at both forward positions and his seven-foot wingspan will keep him active around the basket. He has a good mid-range jumper and plays solid defense.
A draft-day trade brought White to the franchise, and he enters the season with as much intrigue as any of his teammates. Playing time might be sparse at first, but as the team's expiring contracts are dealt, White could end up getting significant run by year's end. The Big Ten Player of the Year last season, White averaged 17.4 points and 10.3 rebounds as a senior at Indiana. He doesn't have the size to play with his back to the basket in the NBA, but he'll rotate in at both forward positions and his seven-foot wingspan will keep him active around the basket. He has a good mid-range jumper and plays solid defense. He could be the team's sixth man of the future.
