Lakers' coach Phil Jackson said he would offer an "open-door kind of invitation" to take on the injured Devean George's role, the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Jackson played four minutes in Wednesday night's win over the Hornets. Fantasy players should hold off on Jackson until he shows that he can fill a big enough role for the Lakers to make a fantasy impact, as George's minutes have made him too inconsistent to rely on this season.

It's your lucky day, Jimmy. Phoenix traded Quentin Richardson and lost Joe Johnson in that Atlanta debacle, so Steve Nash needs a swingman to dish to on the outside. Opposing defenses will have their hands full with Nash, Amare Stoudemire and Shawn Marion, so as a fourth option, the relatively immobile Jackson can safely invest in some open real estate beyond the arc. He's shot better than 40% from downtown in each of the past four seasons and approaches elite numbers from the line, so there's every reason to expect far better than his 10.5 ppg from last year and very strong trey totals.
Jackson had a career year last season, knocking down threes with regularity and surprising many with his rejuvenated scoring punch. Temper any hopes for a repeat this season. With Tracy McGrady on the court, Jackson will be extremely limited in what he’s allowed to do on the floor. Jackson will likely be relegated largely to three-point shooting on offense, and his scoring numbers should take a hit.
Jackson will have a chance to open the season as the Rockets' starting small forward, though he'll have to compete with Adrian Griffin, Eric Piatkowski and Bostjan Nachbar for minutes.
