Planinic now is under contract with the team through the 2006-07 season; The Nets bought out the last year of Planinic's contract -- and waived him in August of 2006 -- so he could sign a multi-year deal with Tau Ceramica of the Euroleague.

Entering his third season with the Nets, Planinic will continue to play backup minutes behind starting shooting guard Richard Jefferson. Last season, Planinic averaged just over 10 minutes per game and could see less this season if rookie Antoine Wright stands out as a bright spot. The Nets are stacked enough at guard that Planinic should remain on the free agent list in most leagues.
The Nets are extremely high on Planinic and expect him to be Jason Kidd's primary backup at point guard. The 6-7 point guard will not receive nearly enough minutes, however, to be worth a spot on your fantasy team.
