Past Fantasy Outlooks
2007
2006
2003
Ilic is the Nets' long-term project at center, and should see very little playing time this season after spending much of last year in the NBDL.
Drafted in the second round of the 2005 NBA Draft, Ilic's European contract was bought out by the Nets and he should make the roster for the 2006-2007 season. Ilic is big (7-1) and tough, but needs some seasoning in the NBA. He averaged 8.4 ppg, 4.4 rpg and 1.6 bpg for Zeleznik Beograd, the champion of the Adriatic League. Ilic came over from Serbia & Montenegro, the same home country as Nets power forward Nenad Krstic.
Ilic has great size and is very skilled for the position. He needs to get stronger and at 7-1, 235 he could use another 20 pounds of muscle before playing in the post. Despite his size he isn't a great rebounder. He could pull out of the draft, but if he does stay in, he could be a late first round pick or a solid early second round pick.
