RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

2016

There was no outlook written for Brooks Reed.

2015

Brooks is currently projected to start as the strong side linebacker for the Falcons in 2015, but don't expect him to have a breakout season in his first year with the team. He's averaged just over 40 tackles and a couple of sacks in four years in the league. If he can stay healthy, he should improve those numbers, but not greatly.

2014

Reed will be a starter at linebacker, though it's not known if he'll line up inside or outside. An outside backer for three years in Houston, Reed has been getting reps inside during the 2014 offseason practice sessions. The Texans did add inside linebacker Akeem Dent, who could claim a spot inside, freeing Reed to work outside. However, the outside figures to be clogged up with Whitney Mercilus and Jadeveon Clowney. Reed (11.5 sacks in three seasons) will be somewhere in the mix.

2013

Reed will be a starting linebacker for Houston, likely at outside linebacker on the strong side, but there was some talk of having him play some in the interior. Having him learn the inside stuff will give coaches some in-game flexibility, but the Texans like Reed on the outside.

2012

Reed will start at right outside linebacker for the Texans, where he is a sack threat due to his speed off the edge.

2011

Reed was a defensive end during his years in college at the University of Arizona, but the Texans feel he's well-suited to be an outside linebacker in their new 3-4 defense. There's a good chance he'll be a regular contributor on defense, backing up Connor Barwin and Mario Williams on the edgge.
