Kelce is fully recovered from microfracture surgery on his knee, but he admitted that he still needs to build up the muscles in his leg, The Kansas City Star reports.

Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)

Kelce, a 2013 third-round draft pick, should have every opportunity to earn a significant role in the Kansas City passing game this season, after the knee injury limited him to just one snap as a rookie. Not only is the Chiefs' projected starting tight end (Anthony Fasano) more of a blocker than a pass catcher, but the team also lacks depth at wide receiver behind 2013 bust Dwayne Bowe. While it sounds like he wouldn't quite be ready to make an impact if the season started this week, Kelce has well over a month to work his way into game shape.
Kelce (knee) participated in individual drills during the first day of Chiefs' mandatory minicamp Tuesday, ESPN.com reports.

Though Kelce, who is bouncing back from microfracture surgery on his knee, figures to be eased back into action, his presence on the field Tuesday is a good sign. Assuming his knee holds up, the 2013 third-rounder is a candidate to provide a boost to the Chiefs' passing game this season.
Coach Andy Reid said that Kelce (knee) should be ready by training camp, the Kansas City Star reports.

Kelce (knee) will likely be healthy for OTAs, ESPN.com reports.

Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)

After losing his rookie campaign to a knee injury, the 63rd overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft should have every chance to earn a major role in the Kansas City offense. His upside as a receiver far outpaces that of fellow Chiefs tight ends Sean McGrath and Anthony Fasano, the latter of whom figures to hold a significant role because of his blocking. With the Chiefs lacking reliable receivers and favoring a short-to-intermediate passing game, Kelce couldn't ask for a better situation.

Kelce may be the most talented TE from the 2013 draft class but will have to fight Tony Moeaki and Anthony Fasano for playing time as a rookie.
