RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

2016-17

There was no outlook written for Ivan Barbashev.

2014-15

Barbashev was chosen 33rd overall by the Blues in Juneís NHL Entry Draft following two successful seasons with Moncton of the QMJHL. While his scoring totals arenít as gaudy as some of the other upper-tier prospects from the league, Barbashev has shown a highly-developed two-way game. Despite not being a premier stick-handler, Barbashev uses his big frame well, both in protecting the puck and doling out punishment. The 18-year-old likely profiles as a second-line center or wing at the NHL level.
