Closer Watch
Tigers – With Jose Valverde having pitched each of the prior two days, Drew Smyly (1.1 innings) and Joaquin Benoit (the final out and the save) finished off Max Scherzer's win over Minnesota on Monday. It's still Valverde's job, but be aware that the veteran's getting the white-glove treatment from Jim Leyland.
Mets – Bobby Parnell blew his second in four tries Monday, but it's tough to blame him, as Colin Cowgill misplayed a lazy fly ball into a hit that set up the inning. The Mets are unlikely to go with a different closer at this point, not that they're getting many save chances anyway.
Cubs – Kevin Gregg collected his fourth save Monday, striking out two, but Kyuji Fujikawa's on the horizon. Still, it appears Gregg will be the Cubs' closer for about the next 10 days still, and maybe more.

Recommended Pickup
Dan Straily, SP, OAK – In a lot of standard leagues, Straily was cut to the wire when he was returned to the minors following an 11-strikeout win over Houston on April 5. He didn't miss a beat in the minors, striking out 20 batters in 18.2 innings and pitching to a 0.96 ERA and 0.93 WHIP. Though he struggled against the Angels on Monday, giving up six runs while failing to escape the fifth inning, Straily did strike out six, he's got all the stuff to succeed and he could get more than just this one chance – Brett Anderson (whose spot he took Monday) could go on the DL, or Jarrod Parker could be sent down.
Other Recent Recommendations: Nolan Arenado, Kevin Correia, Eric Young, Hiram Burgos, Didi Gregorius
