2024 Fantasy Outlook
Thielen entered last year with a pair of 700-yard seasons. As a 33 year old, he joined the Panthers. Going from Kirk Cousins to Bryce Young was a downgrade in quarterback play. Remarkably, Thielen turned back the clock. He had his best season since 2018 by posting 1,014 yards and four touchdowns. Thielen was on fire during a four-week stretch that began in Week 3. During that time, he averaged 10 catches, 111 yards and 0.75 touchdowns. Although his production dropped the rest of the year, he was still productive. During the offseason, the Panthers added Diontae Johnson and Xavier Legette. As a result, Thielen may be limited to playing in three-receiver sets, which would likely lead to a major reduction in targets from last year. As a rotational player, the veteran may have limited upside. Read Past Outlooks
RANKS
Quiet end to campaign
Thielen caught two of three targets for 12 yards in Sunday's 9-0 loss to the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Thielen was one of the very few bright spots on the Panthers this season and the main target rookie quarterback Bryce Young could consistently connect with. The 33-year-old caught 103 passes -- the second most of his career -- on 137 targets for 1,014 yards and four touchdowns. Despite a new front office and coaching staff set to arrive in Carolina this offseason, the veteran Thielen remains under contract for 2024, when he figures to serve as a reliable outlet for Young even if the team improves the supporting cast around him.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Likely getting rookie QB back
Thielen, who thrived while playing with Andy Dalton as his quarterback in a Week 3 loss to the Seahawks, is increasingly likely to have rookie Bryce Young as his quarterback in Week 4, David Newton of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Thielen and Dalton unsurprisingly made for a productive tandem against Seattle's vulnerable pass defense in Week 3, with the veteran wideout posting an 11-catch, 145-yard, one-touchdown effort. However, Young, who missed the game against Seattle due to an ankle sprain, was able to practice fully Wednesday and Thursday and is expected to return to action Sunday against Minnesota. If that comes to pass, Thielen will be back to catching passes from the rookie signal-caller against the receiver's old team, meaning a less productive performance is likely.

Thielen scored 30 TDs his final three seasons in Minnesota, but only six last year as his per-game averages dropped to 4.1 catches for 42.1 yards. His 6.7 YPT was easily a career low, and he now heads to Carolina on a three-year, $25 million contract ($14 million guaranteed) to give No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young an experience receiver to target. It's a situation that assures Thielen of a starting job and at least a handful of targets per game, but a big rebound is unlikely as he enters his age-33 season relying on a 22-year-old QB and a new coaching staff. Any value might be limited to PPR leagues, as the Panthers don't have much else in terms of quality targets -- the other "top" options are DJ Chark, second-round pick Jonathan Mingo, Terrace Marshall and TE Hayden Hurst.
