2024 Projections
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Allen's prospect profile out of Wisconsin is incomplete after he declined to run a 40-yard dash ahead of the 2024 Draft, but he was generally a productive player in college and could prove useful in the NFL too. At 6-1, 235, the fourth-round pick relies on size and power rather than speed or agility, and with the Badgers he stomped his way to 1,268 rushing yards as a 17-year-old true freshman. Allen's age could actually be a detriment in the short term -- he won't turn 21 until January -- but fellow Jets running backs Israel Abanikanda and Isaiah Davis both are unproven in their own right. One of the three is expected to emerge as the backup to Breece Hall, who figures to be one of the more heavily used lead backs in the league. Read Past Outlooks
Chance to back up Hall
The Jets selected Allen in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 134th overall.
ANALYSIS
Allen followed in the footsteps of Jonathan Taylor as a prolific rusher at Wisconsin. He totaled 3,494 yards on the ground across 35 games with the Badgers, but he didn't show much ability as a pass catcher with just 49 catches over three seasons, which was part of the reason he lasted until Round 4. The Jets will hope that Allen doesn't see much work in his rookie campaign, but he should have the chance to compete with Israel Abanikanda to back up Breece Hall.

Excels in pass protection
Pass protection is a strength for Allen, according to Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic. "It was something that I wanted to improve in and put that on tape, show that I'm a willing and physical pass protector," Allen said. "I definitely take a lot of pride in it."
ANALYSIS
Allen is the favorite to open the season as Breece Hall's top backup after being drafted in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Jets. While Allen's power running style makes him an obvious fit in short-yardage situations and on early downs, he could also earn snaps in passing situations thanks to his skills in pass protection, which is usually a weak point for rookie running backs.
