Closer Watch
Dodgers - Javy Guerra appeared yet again Thursday, nailing down his fifth save in five tries with a perfect inning and a strikeout. Guerra has allowed just two baserunners in his five scoreless innings so far. Sorry, Kenley Jansen owners.
Rangers - Mike Adams was called on for the save Thursday, and he got it despite allowing a run on two hits. Nathan got blown up for three runs and a loss his last time out, but had appeared in games on consecutive days and was unavailable to pitch Thursday. It's clear that Adams is the first choice to replace him if a move is made at some point this season, however.
Giants - Brian Wilson has given up a run in each of his first two appearances and has hardly looked sharp, but he did nail down the save Thursday. His is a situation to monitor; Sergio Romo is the likely second hand on deck.
Twins - Matt Capps made it interesting Thursday against the Angels, as he entered with a three-run lead and gave two runs up before finishing it off. He's another at-risk arm, but there's not a natural inheritor in the Twins' pen.
Washington - Drew Storen is out for the first half of the year, so this is an official battle between Brad Lidge and Henry Rodriguez, and to an extent Tyler Clippard. Lidge had the worst of it Thursday, giving up two hits and two walks to blow the save. Craig Stammen struck out the side on 10 pitches in the 10th inning for the win; perhaps he could be in the mix as well.

Recommended Pickup
Jose Altuve, 2B, HOU - I guess I'm all about the Astros so far this year. With the demotion of Brian Bixler, Altuve has second base all to himself, and he's done nothing but hit of late - seven hits in his last four games have him sitting on a .368 average early in the year here. That's not so out of the ordinary by Altuve's standards, as he hit .389 across two levels of the minors last year. He may be a little guy and he may be on the Astros, but he's got some pop and good wheels, which means he plays in leagues with a middle-infield slot.
