FanDuel MLB: Tuesday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Tuesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Pitcher

Jon Gray, COL vs. LOS ($7,100): Gray is the one Rockies pitcher I feel fairly confident rostering at Coors Field. He sports a 4-0 record and .235 batting average against at home this season and even his 4.22 ERA is acceptable when you consider the hitting conditions. Gray has also amassed 39, 45, 37 and 39 fantasy points respectively over his last four home starts while going seven innings in three of them. The Dodgers certainly have a couple of potent left-handed bats, so this is still primarily a tournament play, but Gray does give you what should be an under-owned option with the potential for a solid return on investment.

Catcher

Jett Bandy, LAA vs. OAK ($2,200): Bandy brings solid upside for a player of his price, with double-digit fantasy points in three of his last nine games and 9.5 fantasy points in another during that span. He's been outstanding against southpaws in particular, tallying a .464 wOBA, .308 ISO and 30.4 percent hard contact rate. Meanwhile, A's lefty Sean Manaea has given up a .343 wOBA and 10 homers to righty bats and has been even more vulnerable against them on the road, where he's yielded a .400 wOBA and 43.2 percent hard contact rate to that handedness of hitter.

First Base

Dae-Ho Lee, SEA vs. BOS ($2,900): Lee takes aim at Red Sox starter David Price, who continues to be up and down in 2016. Lee has blasted southpaws to the tune of a .343 wOBA and seven homers and has a .433 wOBA against them at home. Price has given up a .313 wOBA and 12 homers to righty hitters, along with a 39.4 percent hard contact to them on the road.

Second Base

Joe Panik, SFG at PHI ($2,900): Panik serves as a cost-effective lefty bat against Phillies starter Zach Eflin, who's given up a .324 wOBA , 5.58 xFIP and 33.3 percent hard contact rate to left-handed hitters. Panik is starting to round back into shape after a long layoff and has hits in his last two games. He also owns a .349 wOBA and 30.2 percent hard contact rate against righties on the road over 90 at-bats.

Third Base

Hernan Perez, MIL at SDP ($2,900): Perez is a multi-category fantasy producer with plenty of upside, as he's scored 24.4 to 40.4 fantasy points in four of his last five games and 24.7 in another over his last 10. His stolen base potential boosts his value considerably and Perez has three two-steal games over his last nine. He's also done well away from Miller Park this season with a .345 wOBA and .239 ISO. Padres starter Luis Perdomo has been pitching progressively better but has still surrendered a .392 wOBA to righties that rises to a whopping .564 when facing them at home over a 62-batter sample. He's also yielded an overall 36.8 percent hard contact rate at Petco Park and a 6.23 xFIP there to righty bats.

Shortstop

Brandon Crawford, SFG at PHI ($3,200): Crawford is fully expected back in the lineup Tuesday after dealing with a recent hand injury and represents another cost-effective left-handed option against Eflin. Crawford owns a .323 wOBA against righty arms that rises to .343 when facing them on the road, where he's also made hard contact against them at a 36.7 percent clip.

Outfield

Tyler Naquin, CLE vs. MIN ($3,500): Naquin is the first of two value bats with which to target Twins starter Kyle Gibson. Naquin has been lights out against righties with a .432 wOBA and .298 ISO and even better .469 and .315 figures (along with a 40.7 percent hard contact rate) when facing them at home. Gibson has given up a .338 wOBA to lefties overall, including .328 on the road.

Lonnie Chisenhall, CLE vs. MIN ($2,700): Chisenhall is our second target as he owns a .354 wOBA against righty arms that rises to .361 when facing them at home. He's also blasted all six of his homers this season against right-handed pitching.

Nelson Cruz, SEA vs. BOS ($3,500): Cruz is always in play against lefties, even when that southpaw is David Price. The Mariners slugger actually has a solid track record against Price, slashing .360/.407/.600 against him over 25 at-bats with two homers and four RBI. Cruz also has his customary other-worldly numbers against southpaws this season, amassing a .433 wOBA, .363 ISO and 41.5 percent hard contact rate against them.
