DraftKings MLB: Monday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

Pitcher

Zack Godley, ARI vs. SF ($10,600): Godley has registered an 18.4 RAA with his curveball, the second highest mark in the league among pitchers who have thrown at least 100 innings. The Giants have logged the second lowest RAA against the bender and hold a .295 wOBA against right-handed pitchers. Some may balk at the idea of paying nearly $11,000 for a pitcher at Chase Field, but Godley has been fantastic at home this season, allowing just a .254 wOBA over 71.1 innings.

A.J. Cole, WAS at PHI ($6,100): There aren't many mid-tier selections to get excited about on the main slate, giving us an opportunity to save money on an option with upside. The Phillies have logged a bottom-10 mark against the slider this season, a pitch that Cole has thrown at a 24.7 percent clip. It is also worth noting that the 25-year-old has kept a 9.3 percent swinging strike rate while Philadelphia owns a 23.8 percent strikeout rate against righties.

Catcher

Robinson Chirinos, TEX vs. HOU ($3,000): Opposing starter Collin McHugh has notched a 5.28 ERA and a .487 slugging percentage over 30.2 innings on the road this season. Chirinos has shown himself to be a better hitter overall against lefties but still carries plenty of power against righties, as evidenced by his .238 ISO over 189 at-bats.

First Base

Hanley Ramirez, BOS vs. TOR ($3,800): Ramirez hasn't had the kind of season that owners in seasonal leagues were hoping for, but still carries a .222 ISO against lefties over 99 at-bats. The 33-year-old could be an affordable piece of a stack against left-hander Brett Anderson, who has allowed a .526 slugging percentage to his opposite hand over 38.1 innings.

Second Base

Paul DeJong, STL vs. CHC ($4,100): DeJong has hammered lefties to the tune of a .320 ISO and a .400 wOBA over 75 at-bats this season. Meanwhile, Jon Lester's rough stretch in August has extended into the final month of the season. He has surrendered 33 runs (30 earned) in his last 39.2 innings, which translates to an ugly looking 6.81 ERA.

Third Base

Luis Valbuena, LAA at CWS ($2,700): Valbuena represents the perfect DFS value play, as he carries tremendous power, but keeps his price low due to lack of production in other areas. The 31-year-old will take the .276 ISO he has tallied in September into a matchup against James Shields, who has allowed 17 homers to left-handed hitters over 52.2 innings this season.

Shortstop

Tim Anderson, CWS vs. LAA ($3,700): Anderson has been on fire in September, as evidenced by the .419 wOBA he has tallied over 89 at-bats. Ricky Nolasco has kept a reverse split throughout the season, surrendering a .569 slugging percentage to righty hitters over 84.2 innings.

Outfield

Charlie Blackmon, COL vs. MIA ($5,700):Odrisamer Despaigne has thrown the ball well at home, but has allowed a 7.88 ERA in 16 innings on the road in 2017. This should make the right-hander a perfect target for Blackmon, who has notched a tremendous .397 ISO to go along with a .503 wOBA over 282 at-bats at Coors Field.

J.D. Martinez, ARI vs. SF ($5,600): Martinez has put up video game stats against lefties this season, but his numbers are only slightly less unbelievable against righties, against whom he has tallied a .354 ISO and a .401 wOBA over 352 at-bats. Johnny Cueto has shown improvement since returning from a blister and forearm problems but has still allowed a .462 slugging percentage over 20.2 innings this month.

Chris Taylor, LAD vs. SD ($3,700): Taylor is a nice option for those looking to save a bit of money in the outfield, as he has registered a 16.0 RAA against the fastball this season. Opposing starter Travis Wood has logged a -8.4 RAA with his heater while allowing a .536 slugging percentage to righties over 70.2 frames.
