Pitcher
Kyle Lohse, $6,500 - The "Early Only" slate is lacking in stud starting pitching, so it makes sense to look for a reasonable, cheap option. Enter Lohse, who has seemed to turn the corner after a rocky start to the season. He's scored eight, 20 and 12 fantasy points over his last three starts and gets a favorable home matchup against the Giants. The Giants' game Sunday at Colorado was delayed more than two hours by rain, and the team should be a little road-weary once it gets to Milwaukee. After Buster Posey and Hunter Pence there's not a lot to fear in the San Francisco lineup unless you buy into the "Norichika Aoki revenge" factor.
Catcher
Evan Gattis, $3,500 - Catcher seems like a position you should pay up for, and it's costly if you get -1 at the position given what the elite options are capable of. Gattis has hit cleanup all season and gets the favorable lefty-righty split. In addition, he'll hit in Camden Yards, which has always played nicely for hitters. Gattis has two triples in his last four games and went yard in Detroit on Sunday, so there's a lot working in his favor.
First Base
Mike Napoli, $3,100 - There is plenty of evidence that playing the "hot hand" works in DFS, and there's also evidence debunking it. Personally, I've had too much success to ignore it, and if you've ridden Napoli the last week it's paid off nicely. Over his last six games he's scored 12.75, 13.75, 6.5, -1, 1.5 and 7.5 fantasy points. Monday he gets Ricky Nolasco in a tough hitter's park but is too hot to ignore. His price hasn't gone through the roof despite his recent success, allowing some salary cap relief if you're looking to pay up at other positions.
Second Base
DJ LeMahieu, $2900 - The Rockies will be a nice stack if you believe in picking on Jason Marquis. Like the Giants, the only red flag is the travel the Rockies might endure given a late Sunday night game in Coors Field. However, Marquis continues to get lit up time after time, and LeMahieu is riding a seven-game hitting streak with three multi-hit affairs. He's hitting .331 this season and has the ability to swipe a bag. Just make sure he's in the lineup over Daniel Descalso.
Third Base
Nolan Arenado, $3,200 - I'm sticking with the "hot hand" theory and going with Arenado. He's coming off a 4-for-5 game in which he was a double short of the cycle. Again, there's no reason to trust Jason Marquis, and there's an obvious stack against him given the home ballpark. Without an elite pitcher to pay up for on the early slate of games, it's OK to stack the Rockies in another favorable NL ballpark.
Shortstop
Ian Desmond, $3,100 - On the nice part of a righty-lefty pitcher platoon? Check. Has the player had positive results over his last nine games in the FanDuel format? Check. You'd be hard-pressed to find another shortstop who's hitting this well and had plus-games in the FanDuel format. He's not ridiculously priced, and just hope that the wind is blowing out at Wrigley as Tsuyoshi Wada is far from a proven starting pitcher.
Outfield
Brandon Moss, $3,500 - In DFS, do you want patience at the plate? Probably not, but Moss has been doing that over his last few games. He has five walks over his last three games but is always a threat to go deep. Moss is always in the cleanup spot against a right-handed pitcher and gets a mediocre one at best today in Phil Klein. Don't overthink this, and don't be afraid to add teammates named Chisenhall or Kipnis if possible.
Chris Carter, $2,900 - He's a huge risk given how many times he goes 0-for-4 and chalks up a -1 in the FanDuel format. However, he's also a potential windfall at this price given he's always capable of a home run. Carter comes into this with games of 2.25 and 3.75 fantasy points and gets to work with a favorable ballpark in Camden Yards. He's got the positive end of the lefty pitcher vs, a righty hitter as well.
David Murphy, $2,300 - In the early slate of games, this is the highest over/under, and Murphy has been in the cleanup spot religiously against right-handed pitchers. He's bound to be there again and is hitting higher than .300 this season. It's not a great ballpark for hitters, but don't be surprised if he gets to Phil Klein, like Brandon Moss should do as well. A Cleveland stack is much in the works even for cash games.
