DraftKings MLB: Saturday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

PITCHER

Jose Quintana, CWS vs. ATL ($10,600): Although the Braves unexpectedly did a number on Chris Sale on Friday night, they're still the team that entered that contest with a .273 wOBA and .089 ISO against southpaws, while striking out 21 percent of the time. Quintana also brings plenty of upside regardless of opponent, and he has scored over 20 fantasy points in four of the last seven starts, and 19.6 in another. He's come back down to earth a bit after an outstanding start to the season, but he remains remains a quality lefty capable of neutralizing an Atlanta team that doesn't pack a lot of punch, Friday's outlier performance notwithstanding.

Adam Conley, MIA vs. CIN ($8,000): Conley shut down the Braves last Sunday and draws another team that is pretty toothless versus southpaws in the Reds, who have the seventh-lowest wOBA in the majors versus lefties (.308), while also whiffing 22.5 percent of the time. Like Quintana, Conley brings considerable fantasy potential, with four starts in the last 10 with over 20 fantasy points. He's also been stellar at Marlins Park this season, allowing only a .277 wOBA and .208 average over 41 home frames.

CATCHER

Salvador Perez, KC vs. SEA ($2,700): Finding Perez under $3,000 isn't very common, so it's usually a good idea to capitalize when that opportunity presents itself. He draws a favorable matchup as well, as he's slashed .556/.556/.889 over nine at-bats against Mariners starter Wade Miley, with a homer and three RBI. Right-handed bats are also Miley's Achilles' heel, as he's surrendered a .356 wOBA and 12 of his 15 homers on the season to them. Perez has been outstanding at Kauffman Stadium, tallying a .411 wOBA in his home park, as well as a .388 wOBA versus lefties there.

FIRST BASE

Albert Pujols, LAA at BAL ($4,600) Pujols will be licking his chops for his matchup with Orioles starter Yovani Gallardo, who he's battered to the tune of a .433/.500/.900 line with two doubles, four homers and a whopping 12 RBI over 30 career at-bats. Gallardo has also surrendered a .364 wOBA at Camden Yards, and an even more unsightly .393 figure against right-handed bats there. Meanwhile, Pujols has a .334 wOBA against right-handers on the road, and a .374 wOBA in the early going in July.

SECOND BASE

Logan Forsythe, TAM at BOS ($3,400): Forsythe is enjoying a banner season, and he has had some success against Red Sox starter Rick Porcello, who he has slashed .353/.421/.471 over 17 at-bats against. Additionally, Porcello has struggled with right-handed bats all season, yielding a .356 wOBA and 4.78 FIP, along with eight of his 13 homers.

THIRD BASE

Adrian Beltre, TEX vs. MIN ($3,800): The air is particularly heavy and humid at Globe Life Park these days, making it an even better hitting environment than usual. Beltre serves as a reasonably priced option for exploiting the situation, and draws a favorable matchup against Twins starter Ricky Nolasco. The veteran righty has surrendered a .349 wOBA and nine of his 14 homers on the season to right-handed hitters, along with a 34.3 percent hard contact rate that rises to 39.8 percent when facing them on the road. Beltre is sporting a .340 wOBA at home this season, and he has hit four of his five homers off righties at Globe Life as well.

SHORTSTOP

Xander Bogaerts, BOS vs. TB ($4,500): Bogaerts has a .383 wOBA at Fenway Park this season, and a .412 wOBA and 42.9 percent hard contact rate when facing southpaws in his home park. Opposing starter Matt Moore has given up 14 of his 17 homers on the season to right-handed hitters and a .373 wOBA to right-handed batters on the road. The BvP is in Bogaerts' favor as well, as he's slashed .500/.545/.700 over 10 at-bats against Moore with a pair of doubles and RBI.

OUTFIELD

Carlos Gonzalez, COL vs. PHI ($4,900): Jared Eickhoff has been a better pitcher this season that many realize, but this is Coors Field we're talking about. He's also been vulnerable to left-handed hitters, giving up a .399 wOBA to that handedness on the road over 22 innings. Meanwhile, Gonzalez has a .406 wOBA against right-handed pitching, a .463 wOBA at home, and a .480 wOBA against righty arms at Coors, along with a .343 ISO.

Marcell Ozuna, MIA vs. CIN ($4,600): Ozuna has crushed left-handed pitching this season, tallying a .495 wOBA and .394 ISO against southpaws, along with a 52.7 percent hard contact rate. What he's done to them at home is even more impressive, as he's managed a .646 wOBA, .586 ISO, .483 batting average and five homers versus lefties at Marlins Park. Reds starter John Lamb shapes up as a picture-perfect victim for Ozuna, as he's given up a .370 wOBA and 10 of his 12 homers on the season to right-handed hitters, with the wOBA rising to .416 and the hard contact rate of 37.9 percent when facing that handedness on the road.

Yasmany Tomas, ARI at SF ($2,900): Tomas has been struggling recently, bringing his price under $3,000 and making him a nice contrarian value play for tournaments. He's notably hit righties much better on the road than at Chase Field, tallying a .330 wOBA and .227 ISO against them over 94 plate appearances. Tomas also has a 39.6 percent hard contact rate against right-handed pitching that rises to an even more impressive 44.4 percent when facing that handedness on the road. Meanwhile, Peavy has pitched better after a rough start to the season that had many thinking he was finished, but he has given up a .331 wOBA and eight of his 10 homers on the season to right-handed hitters, along with a 36.1 percent hard contact rate.
