PITCHER
Jake Arrieta, CHC vs. STL ($10,700): The Cardinals have been tough against right-handed pitching all season but Arrieta has been solid against them, posting a 2-1 record and 3.45 ERA over 15.2 innings. He's had his share of struggles in the second half of the season, but he has averaged 21.8 fantasy points per game at Wrigley Field, while generating a 2.82 ERA and allowing a .183 batting average over 92.2 innings. With no clear-cut ace Friday and Arrieta actually cheaper than Danny Duffy ($11,600) and Anthony DeSclafani ($11,200), he shapes up as one of the more solid plays on the slate.
Zach Davies, MIL vs. CIN ($7,400): Davies has put together a very solid rookie campaign and has been particularly effective at home, where he's averaged 16.9 fantasy points per game over 17 starts. He's also scored between 22.1 and 26.7 fantasy points in three of his last five trips to the mound, while the Reds have the sixth-lowest wOBA (.309) in the majors against righties, along with a 21.2 percent strikeout rate.
CATCHER
Yasmani Grandal, LAD vs. COL ($2,600): Coming off a 42-fantasy-point outing Thursday on the strength of a pair of homers, the slugging switch-hitter is an absolute bargain. Grandal has been particularly effective from the left side of the plate this season as evidenced by his .352 wOBA and .276 ISO against righties, but he's been absolutely lethal against that handedness at home, with a .416 wOBA, .391 ISO, 17 homers, 35.4 percent HR/FB rate and whopping 50 percent hard contact rate. He's been running hot in September as well, with six homers, a .354 wOBA and .351 ISO over his last 16 games. Rockies starter Jon Gray has been generally solid this season, but Grandal's upside, price and track record at Dodger Stadium are too good to pass up.
FIRST BASE
Freddie Freeman, ATL at MIA ($5,400) On the other end of the pricing scale but with a better matchup is Freeman, who draws the very hittable Andrew Cashner. The Marlins starter has allowed a .384 wOBA, 10 homers and a 41.1 percent hard contact rate to left-handed hitters, while also generating an 8.82 ERA and allowing a .407 wOBA over his last four starts. Meanwhile, Freeman has blasted 25 homers on the season against right-handed pitching and has a .345 batting average, .469 wOBA, 12 homers and a .339 ISO against that handedness away from Turner Field. He's also one of the hottest hitters in baseball over the last two-plus weeks, with a .397 batting average, .471 wOBA, 25 percent HR/FB rate and 47.2 percent hard contact rate over his last 19 games.
SECOND BASE
Jean Segura, ARI at BAL ($5,300): Segura takes aim at the erratic Yovani Gallardo, who's allowed a .371 wOBA and 5.53 xFIP to righty bats at Camden Yards this season. He also has a 7.56 ERA and .398 wOBA over his last two starts, along with a 38.5 percent hard contact rate that's significantly higher than at any other point this season. It could certainly be a sign of a tiring arm for the veteran, something that Segura is poised to take advantage of, considering his .332 batting average and .375 wOBA against right-handed pitching.
THIRD BASE
Kyle Seager, SEA at MIN ($4,300): Seager has been scuffling at the plate over his last 10 games, with only four hits in 36 at-bats. That's helped bring his price down from a high point of $5,200 during that stretch and leaves him relatively easy to work in a lineup for a matchup against Twins starter Kyle Gibson, who has allowed a .386 wOBA to left-handed hitters this season, along with a 33.2 percent hard contact rate. Seager has 18 homers, a .393 wOBA and 40 percent hard contact rate against righties, making him a high-upside and likely low-owned target for tournaments.
SHORTSTOP
Corey Seager, LAD vs. COL ($4,100): Seager has a .343 batting average, .408 wOBA, .225 ISO and 20 homers against right-handed pitching this season, along with a .429 wOBA, .269 ISO, 27.3 percent HR/FB rate and 42.3 percent hard contact rate when facing that handedness at Dodger Stadium. He also checks in with a .316 batting average and .354 wOBA over his last 20 games, making his highly appealing price all the more surprising.
OUTFIELD
Ender Inciarte, ATL at MIA ($4,700): Inciarte is a second left-handed bat with which to target Marlins starter Andrew Cashner, whose extensive troubles against that handedness were detailed earlier. Inciarte has been wielding a red-hot bat over his last 10 games, slashing .349/.417/.488 over that span, while averaging 10.9 fantasy points per contest. He's been solid against both handedness of pitcher this season and sports a .302 batting average, .326 wOBA and 31.1 percent hard contact rate against righty arms away from Turner Field.
Kris Bryant, CHC vs. STL ($5,000): Cardinals starter Mike Leake has allowed a .363 wOBA and 38.6 percent hard contact rate to right-handed hitters on the road, while Bryant sports a .388 wOBA, .253 ISO and 41.2 percent hard contact rate against right-handed pitching, as well as a .384 wOBA and .252 ISO overall at Wrigley Field this season.
Chris Coghlan, CHC vs. STL ($3,000): Coghlan is strictly a cost-saving tournament play who's endured a nightmarish season overall, but who's started to come on at the plate a bit in recent games. He also has an outstanding track record against Cardinals starter Mike Leake, whom he's battered for a .579/.600/1.105 line over 19 career at-bats, with four doubles and a pair of solo homers. He's also posted a .308/.357/.462 line over his last 10 games, with three double-digit fantasy point outings over that span. With a .338 wOBA and 32 percent hard contact rate in his last 13 games, Friday may be the right time to dial up what would usually be a highly improbable play.
