Yahoo DFS Baseball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Baseball series.

PITCHER

Jose De Leon, LAD at SD ($35): After posting a 32.5 percent K-rate through 16 starts in Triple-A, De Leon boasts a 21.5 percent K-rate through his first three starts in the majors with two wins. His 5.52 ERA keeps his salary down and highlights some of the associated risk, though. Still, De Leon grabs the basement-dwelling Padres with their league-worst .290 wOBA and 81 wRC+ against right-handed hurlers, and he fanned nine Friars in his debut start.

Alex Cobb, TB at CWS ($32): The Yankees shelled Cobb for seven runs through 1.1 innings in his most recent outing, and it significantly skewed his statistics since he's only taken the bump four times this season. At this price though, he's worth a look in a bounce-back setting. Cobb allowed just six earned runs through his first three starts this year, and Chicago owns a 24th-ranked .309 wOBA against right-handed pitchers this season.

CATCHER

Yadier Molina, STL vs. CIN ($14): The veteran backstop owns a .331 wOBA against right-handed pitchers for the season, but Molina has been even better against righties during the second half with a .378 mark. Robert Stephenson has allowed a .372 wOBA to right-handed hitters, too.

FIRST BASE

Adrian Gonzalez, LAD at SD ($10): At this salary, Gonzalez is a strong play given his .358 wOBA against right-handed hurlers this season. Paul Clemens has been tough on left-handed hitters this season (.305 wOBA allowed), but his career .342 wOBA to lefties lessens any concern.

SECOND BASE

Ben Zobrist, CHC at PIT ($12): Another solid value roll, Zobrist hits in the heart of a potent lineup and sports a .351 wOBA against righties this season. Ryan Vogelsong has served up a .501 slugging percentage and a .368 wOBA to left-handed hitters over the past three seasons, too.

THIRD BASE

Matt Carpenter, STL vs. CIN ($11): Stephenson has also struggled against left-handed hitters with a .387 wOBA allowed this season. It makes Carpenter an attractive value play given his own .385 wOBA against righties. His upside significantly exceeds his cost Tuesday.

SHORTSTOP

Corey Seager, LAD at SD ($14): This salary isn't prohibitive enough to avoid Seager's sterling track record against right-handed pitchers. He boasts a .408 wOBA and 162 wRC+ against righties since entering the league, after all. Add Clemens' underwhelming 6.07 FIP this season, and Seager is a lineup lock Tuesday.

OUTFIELD

J.D. Martinez, DET vs. CLE ($18): The traditional handedness advantage doesn't apply to Martinez, as he's ripped righties to the tune of a .563 slugging percentage and a .402 wOBA this season while landing in an attractive matchup Tuesday. Mike Clevinger has bounced between the bullpen and rotation during his rookie campaign and allowed a .378 wOBA to right-handed hitters.

Randal Grichuk, STL vs. CIN ($18): As noted above, Stephenson has struggled to adjust to the majors, and Grichuk owns a .521 slugging percentage against righties since returning to the majors following his demotion in late June. Plus, for his career, Grichuk boasts a solid .343 wOBA against right-handed hurlers.

Alex Gordon, KC vs. MIN ($10): A cheap flier swinging the bat nicely of late, Gordon owns a .335 wOBA against righties in September with a .472 slugging percentage. Jose Berrios owns a 6.55 FIP and has allowed a .398 wOBA to left-handed hitters during his debut season.
