FanDuel MLB: Saturday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Saturday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

PITCHER

Patrick Corbin, ARI at LAD ($5,500): Dating back to last season, the Dodgers own a league-worst .275 wOBA and a hefty 22.4 percent K-rate against left-handed hurlers. Corbin is far from a sure thing, but this salary is gift wrapped, and the southpaw also sports a respectable 3.35 FIP through his first two outings.

CATCHER

Kurt Suzuki, ATL vs. SD ($2,200): R.A. Dickey's personal catcher should draw into the lineup and with a shallow catcher pool, taking a flier on Suzuki opens up plenty of spending room elsewhere. The backstop's .313 wOBA against left-handed hurlers last season isn't a crippling mark, and Clayton Richard has surrendered a .343 wOBA to right-handed hitters since 2015.

FIRST BASE

Eric Hosmer, KC vs. LAA ($3,200): Dating back to 2015, Hosmer sports a .363 OBP and .358 wOBA against right-handed arms. He's locked into the three-hole in the lineup, and Matt Shoemaker has been shaky to start the campaign (8.31 FIP) while allowing a 31.5 hard-hit percentage to lefties since entering the league.

SECOND BASE

Robinson Cano, SEA vs. TEX ($3,400): Andrew Cashner has resembled a pitching machine against left-handed hitters dating back to 2015 with a .389 wOBA and 38.1 hard-hit percentage allowed. Cano stands out as a solid mid-priced value considering his .937 OPS and .382 wOBA against righties since the beginning of last season.

THIRD BASE

Kyle Seager, SEA vs. TEX ($3,600): Another manageable salary to consider against Cashner, Seager sports a .383 wOBA and 39.2 hard-hit percentage against right-handed arms dating back to last year. Additionally, he has positive regression ahead at the plate, as he current sports an underwhelming .212/.333/.273 slash line.

SHORTSTOP

Dansby Swanson, ATL vs. SD ($2,600): The 23-year-old shortstop has handled lefties to the tune of a .571 SLG, .235 ISO and .385 wOBA since entering the league, so his salary stands out as a solid value. As noted, the matchup against Richard isn't daunting, either.

OUTFIELD

Mike Trout, LAA at KC ($5,100): Elite hitters always have more appeal in shallow player pools, and while the matchup against Nathan Karns doesn't feature the traditional handedness advantage, the numbers still line up. Trout sports a career .405 OBP and .412 wOBA against right-handed arms, and Karns has allowed 1.6 HR/9 and a .340 wOBA to right-handed hitters.

Yoenis Cespedes, NYM at MIA ($4,400): Given the night off against Miami on Friday, Cespedes will look to stay hot against lefty Adam Conley on Saturday. Dating back to last season, the outfielder has crushed southpaws to the tune of a .711 SLG, .361 ISO and .476 wOBA. He's a lineup lock at this salary.

David Peralta, ARI at LAD ($3,200): Off to an underwhelming start to the campaign (.291 wOBA), Peralta is a contrarian flier that's eyeing positive regression at the dish. After all, he owns a .371 wOBA against right-handed hurlers dating back to 2015, and left-handed hitters have much more success against Kenta Maeda (.326 wOBA compared to .249).
