Yahoo DFS Baseball: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Baseball series.

All 30 MLB teams are in action Sunday, with the festivities scheduled to begin at 1:05 p.m. EDT. There's a plethora of underwhelming starters expected to take the mound, so scoring shouldn't be hard to come by for those who know where to look. A lot of the options below don't come cheap, but clearing out the room to get them on your roster should pay major dividends.

PITCHER

Lance McCullers, HOU vs. BAL ($46): McCullers has taken full advantage of Minute Maid Park's 0.77 park factor, posting a 1.74 ERA and 40 strikeouts in 31 innings at home this season. The 23-year-old's career 2.05 ERA and 10.8 K/9 at home suggest his success this season is sustainable, especially against an Orioles lineup that strikes out the seventh-most in the league at 8.74 times per game and scores the 18th-most runs (4.50). With at least 25.4 fantasy points in each of his five home starts, McCullers offers unmatched safety.

Michael Pineda, NYY vs. OAK ($45): Pineda seems to have missed the memo that Yankee Stadium is a hitters' park, having scored an average of 29.8 fantasy points per game in his five starts there while never coming up short of 21.7. That average should skyrocket by the time he gets done with Oakland's subpar offense. Pineda's 28.1 percent strikeout rate makes him likely to add to the Athletics' average of 8.79 whiffs per game, and he's in excellent position to pick up a win considering the Yankees have averaged 5.38 runs per game to Oakland's 4.11.

CATCHER

Salvador Perez, KC at CLE ($15): Perez has defied the norm by excelling against fellow righties, making him a perfect fit for this matchup with Josh Tomlin, who has surrendered a .375 wOBA to the 98 right-handed hitters he's faced this season. Perez costs a mere $15, which is too good a value to pass up for a player with a .401 wOBA against right-handed pitching.

FIRST BASE

Mitch Moreland, BOS vs. SEA ($17): Mariners starter Christian Bergman has been awful in his first two road appearances this season, with 13 earned runs allowed and a 1:3 K:BB ratio in nine innings. Moreland's .351 wOBA against righties has him in position to add to Bergman's struggles, and he has shown consistent ability to provide value by getting on base in 11 consecutive games. With 21 extra-base hits and 24 walks, Moreland has outplayed his $17 valuation and should continue to do so Sunday.

SECOND BASE

Adam Frazier, PIT vs. NYM ($19): Frazier is well worth his $19 price against Matt Harvey. The second-year second baseman has managed a .392 wOBA against right-handed pitching, while New York's beleaguered former star has surrendered a .359 mark to left-handed hitters. That combination should lead to success for the leadoff man, who has proven more than capable of thriving in favorable matchups with two homers, four runs and six RBI over the past four games.

THIRD BASE

Jake Lamb, ARI at MIL ($23): Miller Park is one of the few stadiums that doesn't present much of a park factor drop-off compared to Lamb's home venue, with a third-ranked 1.26 mark compared to Chase Field's 1.42. The third baseman's .449 wOBA against righties makes him an enticing choice at any location, especially with Jimmy Nelson pitching for the Brewers. Nelson has an uninspiring 4.20 ERA this season after finishing over 4.00 in each of his three previous major league campaigns with over 10 innings pitched.

SHORTSTOP

Carlos Correa, HOU vs. BAL ($24): Orioles righty Alec Asher has allowed a .050 higher wOBA to batters from the right side than the left through 29.0 innings this season, and that unconventional split plays right into Correa's hands. The 2012 first overall pick sports a .390 wOBA through 149 plate appearances facing righties this year, making him a prime candidate to deliver against a spot starter whose 2.17 ERA is fueled by an unsustainable 95.4 percent strand rate and .250 BABIP allowed. Correa also seems immune to Minute Maid Park's pitcher-friendly lean, having posted a .401 home wOBA compared to .330 on the road.

OUTFIELD

Corey Dickerson, TB at MIN ($23): Dickerson has been sensational against pitchers from both sides with a .404 wOBA against left-handers and .415 mark facing righties. The latter mark should be on the rise once again with right-hander Kyle Gibson on the mound for Minnesota. Gibson has been atrocious all season, posting an 8.62 ERA and 2.01 WHIP along with a .425 wOBA allowed to left-handed hitters through seven starts.

Bryce Harper, WAS vs. SD ($24): Like Dickerson, Harper is proficient against pitchers from both sides but excels against righties. He enters Sunday with a .470 wOBA in that split, and has smashed all but one of his 15 homers against pitchers from that side. Jhoulys Chacin's .414 wOBA allowed to left-handed hitters suggests he doesn't have the skills to slow Harper down.

Michael Saunders, PHI vs. CIN ($10): Saunders' price continues to drop despite his production improving. He has gone deep twice in the past four games, earning a promotion back into the heart of the order. The fifth batter in Philadelphia's lineup has a great opportunity to maintain his recent momentum against Scott Feldman, whose .328 wOBA allowed to left-handers is likely to climb towards last season's .377 mark before long.
